Human Error Assessment and Reduction Technique Plus (HEART+) online

HEART+ is the reviewed, revised and extended version of the Human Error Assessment and Reduction Technique.   This on-line course combines self-directed learning and webinars to deliver the following learning outcomes:

  • Understanding the psychological theory underpinning HEART+
  • Understand how the method was developed
  • Understand the scientific basis of the tool
  • Ability to apply the tool to a range of tasks and conditions

On-line learning is not the same as classroom learning.  The course materials have been designed to support learners in the on-line environment.  The course includes approximately 20 hours of learning including 4 webinars, and takes place across 2 weeks.  Participants will have access to experts Julie Bell (co-author of HEART+, FCIEHF) and Pippa Brockington (HEART+ Practitioner, FCIEHF) throughout the course.

Previous participants in the classroom HEART+ course said:

“I’ve left with a great understanding of Human Factors and more. I really enjoyed learning about the psychology behind the process too.”

“The presenters made the course the most engaging course I have ever attended.”

“An excellent introduction and discussion to learn how to apply the principles of HEART+.”

I’ve been on the HEART Course – do I need to attend this one too?

You don’t have to, of course, but it will be well worth your while.  This course focuses much more on the application of the method and understanding how to apply each of the elements.  It’s rooted in significantly more hands on practice.  It also really delves into the different Error Producing Conditions and how they impact reliability.
